Rejoice and Be Gay

Massachusetts finally got its act together about something and repealed that law from 1913 that prohibited couples from marrying in the Commonwealth if their union would not be legal in their home state. (Though I gotta tell ya, I’m curious who those 36 assholes are who voted against.) This law was originally intended to [...]

NASA

President Eisenhower signed the National Aeronautics and Space Act into law on July 29, 1958, thereby creating NASA.
Happy 50th, NASA!

Fannie Mae Bailout

Let it be known that the government bailing out Fannie Mae is utter bullshit. The employees and executives at Fannie Mae doctor their books and even then can’t run a business properly (someone gave out a lot more money in mortgages than they should have been). I realize there are probably no more than a couple thousand copies of this disc at most, [...]

New Green Line stops announced

Some representatives from the Mass. Office of Transportation announced the proposed locations of the Green Line extension in Somerville and sort-of-Medford.
It’s about time someone from a legitimate office of the Commonwealth said something that suggested a future for this project.

No Stairway? Denied!
People need to reclaim their staircases. The people shall not be denied.

The Fed cut short-term interest rates by a 1/4-point today, down to 2%. At the rate these have been coming, The Fed is going to be paying banks outright to hold our loot by 2009.
I could rant for some time about how the Fed helping out the very banks that created our current economic [...]
